MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE Series Reboot Gets a New Subtitle Name LIFE'S STILL UNFAIR — GeekTyrant
The Malcolm in the Middle limited series reboot wrapped production last month, and we are just hearing about the new name the episodes will go by - Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair , a reference to the show's theme song, 'Boss of Me,' by They Might Be Giants, which concludes with the words, 'Life is unfair…' It's a great throwback title, and not only does it get that song stuck in our heads, but it brings back memories of the show, and gets us excited to revisit these characters. The reboot will follow Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) and his daughter (newcomer Keeley Karsten) as they are drawn back into the boisterous family's chaos when Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) demand his presence at their 40th wedding anniversary festivities. Also reprising their roles are Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield, who portrayed Malcolm's older brothers, Francis and Reese, respectively. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark is taking over the role of genius Malcolm's younger brother, Dewey. Additional newcomers include Kiana Madeira as Malcolm's girlfriend; Anthony Timpano, cast as Malcolm's youngest brother, Jamie, who was seen as a baby and toddler on the original series; and Vaughan Murrae as Malcolm's youngest sibling, Kelly (who, like the character's actor, is nonbinary), whose existence was revealed in the series finale when Lois revealed her positive pregnancy test. Stay tuned for the announcement of the release date of the new episodes of Malcom in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair .

Review: F1 Delivers an Adrenaline Rush of Pure Summer Movie Awesomeness — GeekTyrant
Joseph Kosinski's F1 might be the loudest, fastest, and most relentlessly entertaining movie of 2025 so far. This is classic Hollywood craftsmanship firing on all cylinders. It's character-driven, visually jaw-dropping, and bursting with that full-throttle energy that only a packed theater can amplify. At nearly three hours long, F1 barely lets off the gas, and I mean that in the best way possible. From the first rev of the engine, Kosinski makes it clear… this is a film meant to be felt, not just watched. At the heart of the story is Brad Pitt's Sonny Hayes, a fallen star of the '90s Formula One scene who's coaxed back to the big leagues for one last shot. Pitt brings a believable weight to Sonny, a guy haunted by what could've been, but still holding onto that old spark. Javier Bardem plays the desperate but driven team owner Ruben, while Damson Idris shines as Joshua Pearce, the talented rookie with something to prove. You've seen this dynamic before of the mentor, the upstart, the ticking clock, but it works. The actors elevate it. The writing keeps it sharp, and there's great chemistry. The real hook here is the racing, and F1 absolutely delivers. Kosinski is such a talented technical director and uses upgraded tech from Top Gun: Maverick to slam viewers into the cockpit of these race cars and onto the track. You experience every jolt, every hairpin turn, every millimeter between wheels. There are moments where the camera lingers just long enough on a tire brushing up against another tire, or the cars twitching ever so slightly, and it's incredibly trilling and intense. It's that attention to detail that makes F1 feel next-level. Even if you don't know a thing about Formula One, and trust me, I went in pretty clueless, the movie walks the line perfectly between spectacle and clarity. It doesn't lecture, but it gives you just enough to understand how the sport works. Rules, strategy, rivalry, risk… it's all there, baked into the story in a way that doesn't slow anything down. You're learning while white-knuckling the armrest, and that's a rare trick to pull off. Story-wise, this is a greatest-hits playlist of sports movie tropes, but it plays the hits hard and with style. Redemption, ego, mentorship, betrayal. It's not reinventing the wheel, but it doesn't need to. What it does do is deliver those emotional beats with sincerity and momentum. You care about these people. You care about who wins. And you care about how far Sonny's willing to go to get that last taste of glory. The supporting cast is excellent across the board. Kerry Condon especially stands out, offering a grounded presence in a movie that often feels like it might burst into flames from sheer velocity. There's also a nice streak of humor and warmth that keeps the characters from getting swallowed by the technical spectacle. Kosinski balances tone beautifully here. Yes, it's sleek and stylized, but it also remembers to be human. F1 is more than just a great racing movie, it's a full-body experience. It's popcorn cinema done right… loud, emotional, immersive, and totally satisfying. If Top Gun: Maverick was your jam, this one's for you. Whether you're a Formula One fanatic or you've barely watched a lap in your life, you'll walk out of this one with your heart pounding and a dumb grin on your face.

Director Jon Watts Opens Up About Why He Left Marvel's THE FANTASTIC FOUR Project — GeekTyrant
Jon Watts is no stranger to big swings in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He directed all three of Tom Holland's Spider-Man films, culminating with No Way Home , a global juggernaut that brought together multiple generations of Spider-Man and nearly hit the $2 billion mark. So when Marvel tapped him to reboot Fantastic Fou , it made sense. But just months before pre-production kicked into gear, Watts quietly stepped away, and now we know why. While speaking at the Mediterrane Film Festival, Watts finally opened up about the real reason he dropped out. It wasn't because of creative differences or a scheduling conflict. It was burnout, specifically, the kind brought on by trying to make No Way Home during peak pandemic chaos. Watts explained: 'The emotional strain of having to go through all of those COVID protocols while also trying to make something creative while also trying to make sure that your cast and crew were all safe — literally, people could've died if you did things wrong — that and the postproduction process was very difficult. 'When you're doing [visual effects work], there's a whole international component to it where you're using vendors from all over the world, and the supply chain had been interrupted because of COVID. It was really hard to get effects done in a traditional way.' Making a Marvel movie is already like steering a freight train through a needle, but doing it under strict health guidelines, that's a different beast entirely. And No Way Home wasn't just another sequel, it was a multiversal event with a sprawling cast, a visual effects gauntlet, and a story that had to emotionally land across three separate franchises. So by the time Marvel came calling again, Watts had to take stock of where he was mentally and creatively. 'I am out of gas. The COVID layer on top of making a giant movie layer, I knew I didn't have what it would've taken to make that movie great. I was just out of steam, so I just needed to take some time to recover. 'Everyone at Marvel totally understood. They had been through it with me as well, so they knew how hard and draining that experience has been; in the end, very satisfying, but at some point, if you can't do it at the level that you feel like you need to for it to be great, then it's better to not do it.' The pressure to always jump to the next big thing, especially when it's something as legacy-heavy as Fantastic Four, can be overwhelming. Watts prioritized his mental and creative health over momentum, which I can respect and appreciate. Since stepping away, Watts worked on the Star Wars series Skeleton Crew . Meanwhile, Matt Shakman ( WandaVision ) took the reins on Fantastic Four: First Steps , which finally hits theaters July 25. Watts says watching the film from the outside will be a 'totally surreal experience.' He won't be returning for the next Spider-Man either as Brand New Day , due in 2026, will be directed by Shang-Chi 's Destin Daniel Cretton, but most recently, he co-wrote and produced Final Destination: Bloodlines . Sometimes the best career move is knowing when to sit one out.
